What does this fault code mean?
The ECM drives the fuel flow valve with a PWM signal. The fault code is set when that signal reads too high, which can be caused by the signal wire being shorted to supply voltage or by a damaged valve.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged fuel flow control valve
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Look for chafing on the signal wire to the fuel flow valve where it may have touched a live source
- 3Check the connector at the fuel flow valve for oxidation and play
- 4Use a multimeter, with ignition on, to check that the signal wire is not shorted to supply voltage
- 5If the wire is intact, have a workshop check the fuel flow valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
