What does this fault code mean?
The control module has detected misfires on cylinder one during the first revolutions after the engine was started. The code shows which cylinder is affected. The causes are the same as for misfires on several cylinders, and they lie in the fuel system, the intake or the ignition.
Possible causes
- Low fuel level
- Contaminated or incorrect fuel, for example summer fuel in winter
- Air leakage
- Blocked or leaking injector
- Faulty fuel pressure
- Uneven compression
What you can do
- 1First investigate the other fault codes that affect camshaft control or the camshaft reset valve
- 2Check the fuel level in the tank and that the engine oil level is correct
- 3Check that the fuel suits the season and that the tank is not contaminated
- 4Check the spark plug and ignition coil on cylinder one, and look for moisture in the spark plug well
- 5Check the intake system for leaks
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the compression on cylinder one
Symptoms you may notice4
- Engine warning lamp lit
- The engine misfires
- The engine is difficult to start
- Uneven idle
What the fault can affect2
- Rear oxygen sensor control is switched off
- Lambda control is switched off
