What does this fault code mean?
The engine has misfired on cylinder five during the first revolutions after starting. The control module stores the code when the misfires are detected during start-up, and the code indicates that cylinder five is the one misfiring. The causes lie in the fuel supply, the combustion or the air flow.
Possible causes
- Low fuel level
- Engine never reaches full operating temperature across repeated cold starts
- Contaminated or incorrect fuel
- Air leakage
- Blocked or leaking injector
- Faulty fuel pressure
What you can do
- 1First investigate the other fault codes that affect camshaft control or the camshaft reset valve
- 2Check the fuel level in the tank and that the engine oil level is correct
- 3Check that the fuel suits the season
- 4Check the spark plug on cylinder five and look for moisture in its well
- 5Check the intake for leaks
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pressure
Symptoms you may notice4
- Engine warning lamp lit
- The engine is difficult to start
- Uneven idle
- Poor performance
What the fault can affect2
- Rear oxygen sensor control is switched off
- Lambda control is switched off
