What does this fault code mean?
Misfires on cylinder five during the first revolutions after starting affect the exhaust emissions. The code indicates that cylinder five is misfiring, and it can be checked while the engine runs. The causes lie in the fuel system, the intake and the crankcase ventilation.
Possible causes
- Air leakage
- Blocked crankcase ventilation
- Blocked or leaking injector
- Faulty fuel pressure
- Contaminated or incorrect fuel
- Engine never reaches full operating temperature across repeated cold starts
What you can do
- 1First investigate the other fault codes that affect camshaft control or the camshaft reset valve
- 2Check the fuel level in the tank and that the engine oil level is correct
- 3Check the intake system for leaks
- 4Check the spark plug on cylinder five
- 5Check the crankcase ventilation for blockages
- 6If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pressure
Symptoms you may notice4
- Engine warning lamp lit
- The engine misfires
- Poor performance
- Uneven idle
What the fault can affect2
- Rear oxygen sensor control is switched off
- Lambda control is switched off
