What does this fault code mean?
The intake side camshaft position sensor tells the engine control module where the camshaft is. The module reads the sensor's pulse-width modulated signal, and when the signal drops out at times it records this as a fault and stores the code. The engine may be hard to start.
Possible causes
- The camshaft position sensor is in the wrong position
- Damaged camshaft position sensor
- Loose connection at the sensor connector
- Camshafts incorrectly adjusted in relation to the crankshaft
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the intake camshaft sensor connector is secure and free from oxidation
- 3Check that the sensor is correctly installed and that neither the sensor nor its housing is damaged
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault status after raising engine speed a few times; "No fault found" means the fault is not active at the moment
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the camshaft angle against the crankshaft with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine is difficult to start
