What does this fault code mean?
The intake side camshaft position sensor sends a signal that stays at too high a level. The control module interprets this as a fault and sets the code. The cause may lie in the signal wire, the supply wire, the ground wire or the sensor. The engine may be hard to start.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Supply wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the ground wire
- Damaged camshaft position sensor
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and restart the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the intake camshaft sensor connector is secure and free from oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with battery positive
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the supply wire to the sensor has no contact with ground and that the ground wire is intact
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine is difficult to start
