What does this fault code mean?
The intake side camshaft position sensor sends a signal that stays at too low a level. The control module interprets this as a fault and sets the code. The causes may be a short to ground in the signal wire, an open circuit in the supply wire or a loose connection. The engine may be hard to start.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the supply wire to the sensor
- Loose connection
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and restart the engine to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the intake camshaft sensor connector is secure and clean
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground
- 4Use a multimeter to confirm the supply wire to the sensor is intact, with no open circuit
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the camshaft sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine is difficult to start
