What does this fault code mean?
The exhaust side camshaft position sensor occasionally gives no signal, although the signal then returns. The control module treats this as a fault and sets the code. The engine may be hard to start.
Possible causes
- Camshaft position sensor in the wrong position
- Damaged camshaft position sensor
- Loose connection
- Camshafts incorrectly adjusted
What you can do
- 1Start the engine, raise the speed a few times, then read the code
- 2Check that the exhaust camshaft sensor connector is fastened and free from oxidation
- 3Check that the sensor is correctly fitted and not damaged around its housing
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault status; "Fault found" means a permanent fault, "No fault found" means it is not active at the moment
- 5Have a workshop check the camshaft angle against the crankshaft with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine is difficult to start
