What does this fault code mean?
The exhaust side camshaft position sensor sends a signal that stays too high. The control module interprets this as a fault and sets the code. The engine may be hard to start.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Signal wire shorted to supply voltage
- Supply wire shorted to ground
- Open circuit in the ground wire
- Damaged camshaft position sensor
What you can do
- 1Clear the code, restart the engine and see whether it returns
- 2Check that the exhaust camshaft sensor connector is secure and free from oxidation
- 3Look for a break in the signal wire from the sensor and check that it does not touch battery positive
- 4Use a multimeter to check the supply wire has no contact with ground and that the ground wire is intact
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the sensor with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- The engine is difficult to start
