What does this fault code mean?
The zero level of the knock signal is shifted, meaning an offset, and the cause is a fault in the engine control module knock control circuit. The fault is stored as intermittent and may not be active at the moment. The signal may show up as either too high or too low.
Possible causes
- Fault in the engine control module knock control circuit
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the engine control module connectors are secure and free from corrosion
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault status and see whether the code is active at the moment
- 4If the fault returns, have a workshop check the control module with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator (emissions lamp) is lit
What the fault can affect2
- Safety retardation of ignition timing
- Reduced boost pressure
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
