What does this fault code mean?
According to the engine control module, the ignition coil for cylinder 2 has no signal, so it gets no control. The fault can lie in the connector, in the wire between the control module and the coil, or in the coil itself. Cylinder 2 can misfire for as long as the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Poor contact with raised resistance at the terminals
- Break in the wire between the control module and the coil
- Damaged ignition coil
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector to ignition coil 2 is fully engaged and free from corrosion
- 2Follow the cable between the control module and the coil and look for breaks, chafing or pinch damage
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the cable is not broken, with the connector unplugged
- 4Clear the code and road test the car to see whether it comes back
- 5If the cable is intact: have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the ignition coil
Symptoms you may notice2
- The malfunction indicator lamp is on
- Not all cylinders are firing
