ECM-366C - Ignition timing control during cold start
System
Engine Control Module (ECM)
Volvo models this fault code applies to
Applies to the following models:
4 modelsC30 (2007–2013), C70 (2006–2013), S40 (2004–2013), V50 (2004–2013)
What does this fault code mean?
This code covers ignition timing control during a cold start, when the engine control module asks for the catalytic converter to be heated. If the ignition cannot be controlled as intended, heating is too slow and exhaust emissions can get worse. The cause always lies in another fault in the system, which probably also stops idle control from working, so start with that fault.
Possible causes
- Another fault in the system that is stored as its own code
What you can do
- 1Read all stored codes and start with the one that belongs to the other fault
- 2Repair that other fault first, then clear this code
- 3Road test the car and check that the code does not come back
- 4If the idle is still uneven after the repair: have a workshop check idle control with diagnostic equipment
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp is lit
