What does this fault code mean?
While driving at normal battery voltage, the engine control module has registered a signal from the EVAP valve that is too low. This points mainly to a signal cable shorted to ground or an open circuit, but a damaged valve can also cause the fault.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector at the EVAP valve is fully seated and free from corrosion
- 2Follow the signal wire and look for chafing, kinks or places where it may have shorted to the body
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the EVAP valve with the ignition on and listen for a click as it opens
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the fault status; Fault found means the fault is still present, No fault detected means it did not show during the test
- 5Have a workshop check the valve and the wiring with diagnostic equipment, or replace the valve if it is damaged
