What does this fault code mean?
The canister shut-off valve is open while the tank system is vented, and the engine then draws air through the canister. Tank pressure should fall slowly. If it falls too quickly, the flow fault code is set. The fault can be caused by blocked or pinched hoses, a blocked or sticking canister shut-off valve, or a leaking EVAP valve.
Possible causes
- Blocked or sticking canister shut-off valve
- Blocked filter on the canister shut-off valve
- Blocked connection on the canister for the hose to the shut-off valve
- Blocked or pinched hose between the canister and the canister shut-off valve
- Leaking EVAP valve
- Fuel tank pressure sensor reading a constant low pressure
What you can do
- 1Check the fuel filler cap and that its seal is undamaged
- 2Check the hoses and hose connections at the canister, the canister shut-off valve and the tank
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: run the quick test of the fuel tank system with the engine idling and note whether it shows a fault
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: activate the canister shut-off valve and check that it works without faults
- 5Have a workshop check the canister shut-off valve and the filter with diagnostic equipment if the hoses are intact
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- Leak diagnostic is disabled
