What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module receives no signal from the EVAP valve and therefore sets the fault code. The fault can be caused by open circuits in the wiring, poor contact in the connector or a damaged valve. While the fault is present, the control with two oxygen sensors is disabled.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1Check the EVAP valve connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Look for chafed or broken wiring to the EVAP valve
- 3Check the fuse for the circuit
- 4Have you got a diagnostic tool: activate the EVAP valve with the ignition on and listen for a click when it opens
- 5Have a workshop measure the EVAP valve resistance and replace the valve if it is damaged
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- Control with two oxygen sensors is disabled
