What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the signal from the EVAP valve is too high and sets the fault code. The fault is most likely a signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage, or a damaged valve. While the fault is present, the control with two oxygen sensors is disabled.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged EVAP valve
What you can do
- 1Check the EVAP valve resistance with a multimeter, or have a workshop do it
- 2Use a test light or multimeter to check that the signal wire is not short-circuited to positive
- 3Look for pinched, chafed or damaged wiring to the EVAP valve that could cause a short
- 4Repair any short circuit found and clear the fault code
- 5Have a workshop replace the EVAP valve if it is damaged and the wiring is intact
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- Control with two oxygen sensors is disabled
