What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module has registered that the signal from the EVAP valve is too low and sets the fault code. The fault is most likely a signal wire short-circuited to ground, or alternatively a damaged valve. While the fault is present, the control with two oxygen sensors is disabled.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Measure the EVAP valve resistance with a multimeter, or have a workshop do it
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground (the body)
- 3Look for chafed or pinched wiring to the EVAP valve where it could have touched the body
- 4Repair the short circuit and clear the fault code
- 5Test drive the car to see if the fault code returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- Control with two oxygen sensors is disabled
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
