What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the leak diagnostic pump with a control signal, and when the signal is too low the fault code is set. The fault can be caused by the signal wire being short-circuited to ground or having an open circuit. While the fault is present, the leak diagnosis is cancelled.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
- Open circuit in the signal wire
What you can do
- 1Check the connectors at the engine control module and at the leak diagnostic pump for oxidation and poor contact
- 2Look for chafed or pinched wiring to the leak diagnostic pump, especially where it may have touched the body
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with ground and is not open-circuited
- 4Have a workshop check that the engine control module software is up to date
- 5Have a workshop replace the leak diagnostic pump if the wiring is intact but the fault remains
