What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module expects a signal from the valve in the leak diagnostic pump when the valve is activated. If the signal is missing, the fault code is set and the leak diagnostic is disabled. The fault can be caused by poor contact, an open circuit in the signal or supply wire, or a damaged valve in the leak diagnostic unit.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Damaged valve
- Damaged valve in the leak diagnostic unit
What you can do
- 1Have you got a diagnostic tool: switch the valve on with the ignition on and listen for a click when it is activated
- 2Check the fuse for the circuit
- 3Check the leak diagnostic unit connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the signal and supply wires are not open-circuited
- 5Have a workshop replace the leak diagnostic unit if the fuse and wiring are intact but the fault remains
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- The leak diagnostic is disabled
