What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the valve in the leak diagnostic unit and sets the fault code when the signal from the valve is too high while it is activated. The fault can be caused by the signal wire being short-circuited to positive, or by a damaged valve. The leak diagnostic is disabled while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged valve
- Damaged valve in the leak diagnostic unit
What you can do
- 1Have you got a diagnostic tool: read the signal from the valve in live data while it is activated and check whether it is too high
- 2Check the signal wire for a short circuit to positive
- 3Use a test light or multimeter to check whether the wire has positive voltage when it should not
- 4Look for damaged insulation on the signal wire
- 5If no fault is found in these checks, have a workshop fit a new leak diagnostic unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- The leak diagnostic is disabled
