What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module monitors the control signal to the valve in the leak diagnostic pump. When the signal is too low, the fault code is set. The fault is caused by the signal wire being short-circuited to ground, and the leak diagnostic is disabled while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to ground
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop switch the valve on with the ignition on and listen for a click
- 2Look for chafed or pinched wiring to the valve that may have touched the body
- 3Use a multimeter between the signal wire and ground; if it has contact with ground, it is short-circuited
- 4Repair the short circuit to ground and clear the fault code
- 5Have a workshop replace the unit if the checks show nothing
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- The leak diagnostic is disabled
