What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module receives no signal from the leak diagnostic pump, and the fault code is set. The fault can be caused by poor contact, an open circuit in the signal or supply wire, or a damaged pump. The leak diagnostic is switched off while the fault is present.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Open circuit in the signal wire
- Open circuit in the supply wire
- Damaged pump in the leak diagnostic unit
What you can do
- 1Check the connector of the leak diagnostic unit for contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal and supply wires are not open-circuited
- 3Look for chafed or pinched wiring to the leak diagnostic unit
- 4Have you got a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the pump signal is present when the leak diagnostic runs
- 5Have a workshop replace the pump in the leak diagnostic unit if the wiring is intact but the signal is still missing
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) is on
What the fault can affect1
- The leak diagnostic is switched off
