What does this fault code mean?

The fuel level signal is too high. If the rear electronic module (REM) or the central electronic module (CEM) has found an electrical problem with the level sensor, the fault code is set there, and at the same time in the engine control module. The fault therefore lies in another module, and troubleshooting is done there.

    Possible causes

    • Fault in the rear electronic module (REM), which should be troubleshot first
    • Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which should be troubleshot

    What you can do

    1. 1Have a workshop with diagnostic equipment read the fault codes in the REM first, since the code in the engine control module is set at the same time
    2. 2Then troubleshoot the CEM if its fault code is present
    3. 3Do not clear the code in the engine control module until the fault code in the module where the fault lies has been remedied
    4. 4Have you got a diagnostic tool: read the fuel level in live data with the ignition on and see whether the value changes when you add fuel
    5. 5Have a workshop check the fuel level sensor and its connector if the fault returns

    Symptoms you may notice1

    • Fuel gauge shows a wrong value

General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
