What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module follows the signal from the module's built-in power stage that drives the EGR motor. If the signal is incorrect the fault code is set, and EGR control is lost. The fault can come from the signal wire being short-circuited to supply voltage, a damaged position sensor or a damaged EGR valve.
Possible causes
- Signal wire short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged position sensor
- Damaged EGR valve
What you can do
- 1Have a workshop disconnect the engine control module connector and check the signal wire for a short circuit to positive
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal wire has no contact with positive with the engine switched off
- 3Look for pinched or chafed wiring to the EGR valve
- 4Repair the short circuit and clear the fault code
- 5Have a workshop check the position sensor and the EGR valve if the fault returns
Symptoms you may notice1
- Message in the display
What the fault can affect1
- No exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) control
