What does this fault code mean?
The central electronic module (CEM) monitors the fuel level sensor and reports its status to the engine control module. The code is set when the signal from the fuel level sensor is too high, and it is then stored in both the CEM and the engine control module. Troubleshooting always starts in the CEM.
Possible causes
- Electrical fault in the fuel level sensor giving too high a signal
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which should be troubleshot first
What you can do
- 1Start by reading the fault codes in the CEM and remedy them
- 2The code in the engine control module cannot be erased until the CEM fault is remedied, so erase it last
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data that the fuel level value changes when the tank is filled or emptied
- 4Have a workshop check the fuel level sensor and its electrical connection if the fault returns after CEM troubleshooting
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel gauge shows an incorrect value
