What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) tracks fuel consumption and compares it with how the tank level changes over time. If the level does not drop as much as the consumption suggests, the code is set. It is a follow-on fault from the CEM, which shows the fault first, so troubleshooting starts there.
Possible causes
- Fault in the central electronic module (CEM), which should be troubleshot first
- Fault in the fuel level sensor, which the CEM reads and reports onward
What you can do
- 1Remedy the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM) first, since this code follows from them
- 2Erase the codes in the CEM once the faults are remedied, then erase this code
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: compare the tank level value in live data with how much fuel you actually add
- 4If the fault remains after CEM troubleshooting, a workshop needs to examine the fuel level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel gauge shows the wrong level or a value that is too low
