What does this fault code mean?
Fuel information reaches the engine control module through the central electronic module (CEM). The code concerns a signal that is too low, and it is set when the engine control module has a communication problem with the CEM. The code is set in the CEM first and then in the engine control module.
Possible causes
- One of the CAN wires has a break
- The CAN wires are shorted to each other
- Another module on the same part of the CAN network has an internal fault
What you can do
- 1Start by reading the fault codes in the CEM and remedying what is found
- 2Erase the codes in the CEM once they are remedied, then remove this code
- 3Look at the connectors on the CAN network and see whether any are loose or corroded
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment measure the CAN network to see where communication breaks
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel gauge shows the wrong level, often too low
