What does this fault code mean?
Fuel information reaches the engine control module via the CEM. The code concerns a signal from the fuel level sensor that is too high, and it is set in both the CEM and the engine control module at the same time. Start troubleshooting in the CEM.
Possible causes
- The fuel level sensor gives too high a signal because of an electrical fault
- Fault in the CEM, which registers the fault first and should be troubleshot
What you can do
- 1Troubleshooting starts in the CEM: read off the fault codes there and remedy what is found
- 2The engine control module code is erased last, after the CEM fault is remedied
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the fuel level value becomes unreasonably high and compare it with the gauge
- 4If the fault returns after CEM troubleshooting, a workshop needs to check the sensor and its connectors
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel level on the gauge does not match the tank
