What does this fault code mean?
The fuel level sensor signal is missing in the engine control module, because the central electronic module (CEM) passes the fault on. The code is set in the CEM first and then in the engine control module, and it cannot be erased until the CEM fault is remedied.
Possible causes
- Electrical fault in the fuel level sensor, so that the signal is lost
- Fault in the CEM, which should be troubleshot first
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the CEM and remedy them before doing anything else
- 2Erase the codes in the CEM first once they are remedied, and then this code
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool: check in live data whether the fuel level signal is present at all
- 4If the signal is still missing after CEM troubleshooting, a workshop needs to examine the fuel level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Fuel gauge shows no correct level
