What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module checks the signal from the EGR valve position sensor. The code is set when the signal is judged to be incorrect, and EGR control then stops.
Possible causes
- Poor contact, contact resistance or oxidation in the connectors
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Note the fault code, erase it and test-drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check the position sensor connector for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Check that the wiring to the position sensor is intact and not chafed
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: read the EGR position sensor value in live data at idle and see whether it stays steady
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Message shown in the text display
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control stops
