What does this fault code mean?
The position sensor has stopped working, and the engine control module sets the fault code when the signal from it is judged to be incorrect. EGR control then stops.
Possible causes
- Position sensor has stopped working
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Note the fault code, erase it and test-drive the car to see whether it comes back
- 2See whether the fault remains after the test drive: if it stays it is permanent, if it disappears it is intermittent
- 3Check that the position sensor connector is firmly seated and clean
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool: follow the position sensor value in live data as the engine revs up and check that it does not stay still
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the position sensor
