What does this fault code mean?
The signal from the position sensor to the engine control module is checked all the time. When it is judged to be incorrect, the code is set, which can be caused by poor connectors or a damaged sensor.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a break in the connectors
- Damaged position sensor
What you can do
- 1Note the fault code, erase it and test-drive the car to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the position sensor connectors are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 3With a multimeter you can check that the wiring between the position sensor and the engine control module has no break
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop measure the signal from the position sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- Message shown in the text display
What the fault can affect1
- EGR control does not take place
General guidance for car owners. Diagnosis on the car can point to a different cause.
