What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the EGR cooler bypass valve through its internal power stage. The code is set when the signal to the bypass valve is judged incorrect, and the connector to the valve is then the easiest place to start.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance, oxidation or a loose connection in the bypass valve connector
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, erase it and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 2Look at the bypass valve connector to see whether it is loose or oxidised
- 3Make sure the connector is fully pushed together and free from moisture and dirt
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop examine the bypass valve and its wiring
