What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module drives the EGR cooler bypass valve through its internal power stage. The code is set when the signal to the valve is too low, which comes from the signal wire being shorted to ground.
Possible causes
- Signal wire shorted to ground
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault code, erase it and test-drive to see whether it returns
- 2With a multimeter you can check that the signal wire to the bypass valve has no contact with ground
- 3Look along the wiring for chafing or pinch damage that could give contact with ground
- 4Have a workshop measure the wiring if the fault comes back after these checks
