What does this fault code mean?
The code means that the central electronic module (CEM) has found a fault in the engine control module software, a checksum that does not match. If the engine control module software has been changed, for example by optimisation, that explains the code and it does not need to be remedied. Tell the workshop so that the software is not overwritten.

- Engine control module software has been changed
- Engine control module is damaged
What you can do
- 1Check whether the car has optimised or changed software, for example from a previous owner or a workshop
- 2If the software was not changed on purpose, have a workshop confirm that the engine control module is correct for this specific car
- 3Tell the workshop that the code may be due to changed software, so that it is not overwritten at other service
- 4Have a workshop reload the software only if it has been damaged or changed by accident
