What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module receives the vehicle speed from the brake control module as the main signal, and the speed from the transmission control module as a safety reference. The code is set when the speed from the transmission control module is not updated or its quality is too low, which can come from a fault in that module or from disturbances on the CAN network.
Possible causes
- Disturbances or intermittent breaks on the CAN network
- Fault inside the gearbox control module (TCM)
What you can do
- 1Read off and remedy the fault codes in the transmission control module (TCM)
- 2Also check the CAN network fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM)
- 3Have a workshop examine the CAN network, since intermittent breaks need measuring
- 4If the fault returns after this, have a workshop check the transmission control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- Auto start does not work
- Adaptive cruise control does not work
- Cruise control does not work at all
- Cruise control sometimes disengages after the speed has been set
