What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) senses when the start position of the ignition switch is used. If the engine is turning at high speed without the start position having been registered, this is read as a signal that is too low, and the code is set.
Possible causes
- Signal wire from the ignition switch shorted to ground
- Break in the signal wire from the ignition switch
What you can do
- 1Read off the fault codes in the central electronic module (CEM), since the code may be stored there
- 2Check the fuse for the start position circuit and that it is intact
- 3With a multimeter you can look for a break and a short to ground in the signal wire from the ignition switch
- 4Have a workshop check the wire if the fault returns
