What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has detected a fault in communication with the transmission control module. Communication runs over the CAN bus, and when it fails the accelerator pedal gives no response.
Possible causes
- Communication fault on the CAN bus
- Faulty transmission control module
- Faulty engine control module
What you can do
- 1Read and note the code, clear it and road test to see whether it returns
- 2Check that the connectors to the engine and transmission control modules are fully seated and free from corrosion
- 3Look for chafing or pinched CAN wires in the harness between the control modules
- 4If you have a diagnostic tool, follow the accelerator pedal position in live data and see whether the value changes when you press the pedal
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop read both control modules with diagnostic equipment and check the CAN network
