What does this fault code mean?
The central electronics module (CEM) has found that the engine control module's software does not match, for example through a wrong checksum. The fault may come from modified software, faulty software or a defective engine control module. The symptoms vary depending on the type of fault.
Possible causes
- Faulty engine control module
- Modified software in the engine control module, for example after an optimisation
- Defective engine control module
What you can do
- 1If the software was changed on purpose, for example by tuning, the code is explained; tell the workshop so it is not overwritten
- 2If the car has no such change, have a workshop check the engine control module and reload its software, or replace it if it is damaged
- 3Clear the code only after the cause is fixed, then road test to see whether it returns
