What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has registered that engine speed does not rise above a set level after the starter has been working. The fault belongs to the fuel system, and the code never appears on its own, so other fault codes are probably linked to it. A message is shown in the text display.
Possible causes
- Leak in the fuel system
- Clogged fuel filter
- Contaminated or wrong fuel
- Uneven compression in the engine
- Damaged fuel pressure sensor, fuel pressure regulator valve or fuel flow valve
- Damaged injector or feed pump
What you can do
- 1Read the codes in the engine control module first and fix those that relate to the fuel system, since this code never appears on its own
- 2Check that the fuel is the correct grade and not contaminated, and that there is no visible leak in the fuel system
- 3If you have a diagnostic tool, follow engine speed in live data while the starter is cranking and see whether it rises
- 4If the fault remains, have a workshop check the fuel pressure and the injection system with diagnostic equipment
