What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has registered a faulty reading from the oil level sensor, and the code is stored. The sensor reports oil level, oil temperature and oil quality, which the module uses to calculate the oil level. The fault most likely lies in the sensor itself.
Possible causes
- Damaged oil level sensor
What you can do
- 1If you have a diagnostic tool, read the oil level, oil temperature and oil quality values in live data with the engine running and see whether they look reasonable
- 2If one value is wrong while the others are reasonable, that points to the oil level sensor
- 3Check that the connector at the oil level sensor is fully seated and clean
- 4Clear the code and road test with the engine running to see whether it returns
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop try a new oil level sensor
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
