What does this fault code mean?
The fault is present now: the engine control module (ECM) measures too low a voltage on the signal cable to the turbocharger control valve. The fault is checked when boost pressure is regulated and remains until it has been put right.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Damaged turbocharger control valve
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and run the engine; if it returns straight away the fault is persistent
- 2Check the connector at the turbocharger control valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not in contact with voltage and is not chafed
- 4With a diagnostic tool: activate the turbocharger control valve and listen for a clicking sound
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp lit
