What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) requests high boost pressure but measures a lower boost pressure than the calculated target value, and registers a fault. The fault is detected when the engine is working at high speed and under heavy load. The cause may be a leak in the intake or a fault in the turbocharger or the valves.
Possible causes
- Air leakage in the intake system
- Damaged turbocharger control valve
- Incorrectly adjusted wastegate valve pressure servo
- Sticking wastegate valve
- Damaged turbocharger unit
What you can do
- 1Check the intake system for air leaks, and that the charge air pipes are firmly attached
- 2Check that the hoses to the turbocharger control valve are intact and not pinched or blocked
- 3With a diagnostic tool: activate the turbocharger control valve and check that it responds
- 4Check that the wastegate valve moves freely. Adjusting the pressure servo is a job for a workshop
- 5If the fault remains after these checks, have a workshop check the turbocharger unit
Symptoms you may notice1
- Poor performance
What the fault can affect1
- Boost pressure is lower than normal
