What does this fault code mean?

The engine control module (ECM) compares the measured boost pressure with its target value. If the boost pressure becomes lower than the target, a fault is registered. The cause may lie in the valve, the hoses or the charge air cooler, or in the wastegate valve and its pressure servo.

    Possible causes

    • Damaged turbocharger control valve
    • Damaged charge air cooler
    • One hose from the wastegate valve servo to the turbo control valve has worked loose, or is clogged or cracked
    • Hoses between the turbocharger control valve and the charge air pipe are blocked or damaged
    • Incorrectly adjusted or damaged pressure servo on the wastegate valve
    • Sticking wastegate valve

    What you can do

    1. 1Check that the hose between the wastegate valve pressure servo and the turbocharger control valve is correctly fitted and not damaged or blocked
    2. 2Check that the hose running from the charge air pipe to the turbo control valve is fitted correctly and is neither damaged nor clogged
    3. 3Check that the charge air cooler is not blocked
    4. 4With a diagnostic tool: activate the turbocharger control valve and check that it clicks. A damaged valve can be hard to detect that way
    5. 5Check that the wastegate valve moves freely and is not sticking. Setting the pressure servo is a job for a workshop
