What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has detected too high a signal on the signal cable to the reset valve for the intake camshaft, and the code is set. The cause may be that the cable has come into contact with voltage, that the supply is interrupted, or that the valve is damaged.
Possible causes
- Signal cable short-circuited to supply voltage
- Open circuit in the power supply
- Damaged camshaft reset valve
What you can do
- 1Clear the code and see whether it returns while the engine is running
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable to the valve is not in contact with voltage when the ignition is on
- 3Check that the power supply to the valve is not broken and that the fuse is intact
- 4With a diagnostic tool: read the valve control in live data as the engine speed is raised
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop replace or check the reset valve for the intake camshaft
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp lit
