What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has registered too low a signal from the signal cable to the reset valve for the intake camshaft, and the code is set. The cause may be poor contact in the connections, the signal cable being short-circuited to ground, or a damaged valve.
Possible causes
- Contact resistance in the connections
- Signal cable short-circuited to ground
- Damaged camshaft reset valve
What you can do
- 1Check that the connectors at the valve and in the cable are firmly seated and free from oxidation
- 2Use a multimeter to check that the signal cable is not short-circuited to ground
- 3Check the fuse for the circuit
- 4Clear the code and see whether it returns while the engine runs
- 5If you find no fault, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the reset valve
Symptoms you may notice1
- Malfunction indicator lamp lit
