What does this fault code mean?
The code concerns an internal fault in the electric cooling fan, or that the fan is blocked. The fault stops the fan from running as it should, and the engine can then run hot.
Possible causes
- Blocked cooling fan or blocked fan blade
- Damaged electric cooling fan
- Damaged cooling fan control module
What you can do
- 1Check that nothing blocks the cooling fan and that the fan blade turns easily
- 2With a diagnostic tool: check that the cooling fan runs at every speed step
- 3Check the fuse and the ground lead to the cooling fan
- 4Check the cooling fan connectors for contact resistance and oxidation
- 5If the fan still does not work, have a workshop replace the cooling fan control module or the fan
Symptoms you may notice2
- The electric cooling fan does not work
- The engine overheats or runs hot
What the fault can affect1
- The electric cooling fan is switched off
