What does this fault code mean?
There has been a break in the signal cable to the ETS lamp, but it is intermittent and not always present. The engine control module (ECM) then sets the code, and the malfunction indicator lamp takes the place of the ETS lamp.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal cable
What you can do
- 1Check that the cable to the ETS lamp is not broken, particularly at the connectors
- 2With the ignition on, gently flex the cable at the connectors and see whether the lamp is affected
- 3With a diagnostic tool: activate the ETS lamp and check that it lights and goes out
- 4If you find no fault, have a workshop with diagnostic equipment check the cable and the control module
Symptoms you may notice1
- No noticeable symptoms for the driver
What the fault can affect1
- The malfunction indicator lamp is used instead of the ETS lamp
