What does this fault code mean?
The fault is present now: the engine control module (ECM) has registered a break in the signal cable to the A/C relay, and the fault remains until it has been put right. The A/C system does not work.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Loose or oxidised connector at the A/C relay
- Open circuit in the power cable
- Damaged A/C relay
What you can do
- 1Check that the connector at the A/C relay is firmly seated and free from contact resistance and oxidation
- 2Switch off the ignition, then refit the connector firmly with clean contacts
- 3With a diagnostic tool: switch the ignition on, activate the A/C relay and listen for a click. A click points to poor contact in the connector
- 4If the connector is fine, check the cables to the relay for breaks
- 5If the fault remains, have a workshop check the relay and the supply cable
Symptoms you may notice1
- The A/C system does not work
