What does this fault code mean?
The engine control module (ECM) has no signal from the reset valve for the intake camshaft, and the code is set. The fault comes from a break in the signal or supply cable, or from a damaged valve.
Possible causes
- Open circuit in the signal cable
- Open circuit in the power supply cable
- Damaged camshaft reset valve
What you can do
- 1Check the fuse for the circuit to the reset valve
- 2Check the connector at the reset valve for contact resistance and oxidation
- 3With a diagnostic tool: read the valve signal in live data with the engine warm. A wrong signal points to a constant fault
- 4Use a multimeter to check that the cable to the valve is not broken
- 5If you find no fault, have a workshop check the reset valve and the control module
Symptoms you may notice4
- Malfunction indicator lamp lit
- Uneven idle
- Poorer performance
- The engine stalls
What the fault can affect1
- Variable intake camshaft control for the inlet valves is switched off
